💥The Central Nervous System💥 . The central nervous system (CNS) is a crucial part of the human nervous system, consisting of the brain and spinal cord. . ✅ Here are five functions of the central nervous system: 👉🏼 Information Processing: The CNS processes sensory information from the body and external environment, enabling perception and interpretation of stimuli. . 👉🏼 Motor Control: It coordinates and controls voluntary and involuntary muscle movements, allowing us to perform physical actions and maintain bodily functions. . 👉🏼 Cognitive Functions: The CNS is responsible for higher-order functions such as thinking, memory, reasoning, and problem-solving. . 👉🏼 Homeostasis Regulation: It helps regulate various bodily processes, such as body temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure, to maintain internal balance. . 👉🏼Emotional Responses: The CNS plays a role in generating and regulating emotions, influencing mood, and governing emotional responses to stimuli. . ⚡️The CNS is a vital component of human physiology and behavior. . #nervoussystem #centralnervoussystem #sympatheticnervoussystem #parasympatheticnervoussystem #anxietyrelief #stressrelief #brainhealth #nervoussystemregulation #immunesupport #immunehealth #btosteopathy #humananatomy #brainscience

💥The human hand is an incredibly intricate and fascinating part of the body. Here are a few interesting facts about the human hand: . 👉🏼Complex Anatomy: The human hand is composed of 27 bones, making up about one-fourth of all the bones in the human body. These bones form a complex structure that allows for a wide range of movements and flexibility. . 👉🏼Fine Motor Control: One of the primary functions of the hands is to perform precise and delicate movements. This fine motor control is crucial for various activities such as writing, drawing, playing musical instruments, and intricate craftsmanship. . 👉🏼Opposable Thumb: Unlike many other animals, humans have an opposable thumb, which means our thumbs can touch the tips of our other fingers. This unique trait greatly enhances our ability to grasp and manipulate objects. . 👉🏼Sensory Abilities: The hands are incredibly rich in sensory receptors, making them highly sensitive to touch, pressure, temperature, and texture. This sensitivity enables us to explore and interact with the world around us effectively. . 👉🏼Communicative Gestures: Hands play a crucial role in non-verbal communication. Various hand gestures and signals can convey emotions, express ideas, and enhance verbal communication. . 👉🏼Haptic Perception: Haptic perception refers to the ability to recognize and understand objects through touch. The hands are vital in this process, as they allow us to gather tactile information about the shape, texture, and size of objects. . 👉🏼Hand Dominance: Most people exhibit hand dominance, with one hand being more skilled and preferred for most tasks. Hand dominance is believed to be influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. . #handanatomy #humananatomy #handpain #btosteopathy #learnitontiktok #healthtok #handexercises

👉🏼 The posterior muscles of the back form a complex network that extends from the base of the skull to the pelvis. . These muscles can be broadly categorized into superficial, intermediate, and deep layers. . Each layer plays a vital role in stabilizing the spine, maintaining posture, facilitating movement, and protecting vital structures. . 👉🏼 Superficial Layer: . ▪️Trapezius Muscle: The trapezius muscle is responsible for various movements of the shoulder girdle. It enables elevation, depression, retraction, and rotation of the scapula, contributing to the proper functioning of the upper limb. . ▪️Latissimus Dorsi Muscle: connects the upper extremity to the vertebral column. It plays a crucial role in arm adduction, extension, and medial rotation, aiding in activities such as pulling, pushing, and throwing. . 👉🏼Intermediate Layer: . ▪️Rhomboid Muscles: The rhomboid major and rhomboid minor muscles lie beneath the trapezius and attach the scapulae to the thoracic vertebrae. They retract and stabilize the scapulae, promoting correct posture and facilitating movements involving the shoulder girdle. . 👉🏼 Deep Layer: . ▪️Erector Spinae Muscles: consisting of the iliocostalis, longissimus, and spinalis muscles, span the entire length of the vertebral column. These muscles play a pivotal role in maintaining upright posture, spinal extension, and lateral flexion. . ▪️Transversospinalis Muscles: comprising the semispinalis, multifidus, and rotatores muscles, is situated deep within the erector spinae muscles. They contribute to the stabilization, rotation, and extension of the spine, allowing for fine motor control and proprioception. . Interconnected Function and Postural Impact: . The posterior muscles of the back work synergistically to provide stability, strength, and coordinated movement to the human body. . Optimal functioning of these muscles is crucial for maintaining proper posture and preventing musculoskeletal imbalances that can lead to pain and dysfunction. . #humananatomy #btosteopathy #backmuscles #posteriorchain #muscles #manualtherapy #manualosteopathy #functionalanatomy #posture #badposture

💥Deep Back Muscles💥 . The deep intrinsic musculature of the neck and back plays a crucial role in providing stability, control, and support for the spine. . They also contribute to essential bodily functions like posture, stability, coordination, proprioception and breathing. . Osteopathic treatment, regular exercise and strengthening of these muscles can lead to improved overall funtion and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal problems. . These muscles are controlled by the autonomic nervous system - meaning consciously you cannot isolate these muscles. . With the help of the brain and spinal cord, they constantly contract and relax to keep us upright and stable. . Joint restriction, nerve irritation, tissue damage, organ iritation can lead to muscle contraction of these tissues through neurological reflex arcs. . #spine #spinehealth #spinesurgery #backmuscles #muscle #humananatomy #posteriorchain #btosteopathy #manualtherapy #osteopathy #posture #digestiontips #guthealth

We've animated the capsule of the knee, along with muscles that control the tension of the capsule – articularis genus and semimembranosus muscle. This has been the most challenging set of anatomical structures in the project so far, and it took us two months to bring it to life. With this, we conclude the topic of the knee joint. Hope you like the result! The animation illustrates the knee joint capsule, featuring embedded ligaments such as the oblique popliteal, arcuate, and anterolateral ligaments. The articularis genus muscle is responsible for managing capsule tension during knee extension, while the semimembranosus muscle tightens the capsule during knee flexion. The final muscle presented is the popliteus, the only one that pierces the capsule and has an intracapsular insertion. #capsule #kneecapsule #femur #tibia #fibula #semimembranosus #genus #popliteus #knee #knees #anatomystandard #sportstherapy #sportsperformance #legsworkout #jointhemovement #biomechanics #anatomyart #humananatomy #kneesability #kneeinjury

The spleen is a small organ, but it does an amazing job: It takes care of blood purification and immune defense and thus ensures that we stay healthy! All of our blood – six liters in an adult – flows through the spleen several hundred times a day. It filters out old blood cells, bacteria, pathogens and tumor cells and then organizes their disposal with the help macrophages (a type of white blood cells). It also trains white blood cells, known as lymphocytes, to work together with the bone marrow and thymus. Lymphocytes defend the body against pathogens. The spleen is also a storage organ: It holds onto a small amount of blood for emergencies, such as severe blood loss. We have the PECTORAL & the PELVIC Girdles! A girdle is the bone or bones that connect the appendicular skeleton to the axial skeleton. ✅ The pelvic girdle has only 1 bone: the os coxa bone (hip bone). The femur (lower limb bone) articulates with the acetabulum of the os coxa. ✅ The pectoral girdle has 2 bones: the clavicle (collarbone) and the scapula (shoulder blade). However, out of the two, just the scapula articulates with the humerus. The humerus articulates with the glenoid fossa of the scapula, then the scapula articulates with the acromial end of the clavicle, and then the clavicle articulates with the sternum which is part of the axial skeleton 💫 🧠FOLLOW @dr.benaduce_explains and keep your anatomy sharp!💫📚 🎥 edited by @maria.lynnette #drbenaduce #wittyanatomy #humananatomy #anatomy #humanbody #iloveanatomy #premed #nursing #prepa #doctor #prept #viva #prenursing #mmbs #collegestudents #nursingstudent #ptstudent #medicalstudent #anatomy101 #learningontiktok #bones

💥Disc Herniation💥 . Also known as a herniated disc or slipped disc, occurs when the soft inner material of a spinal disc (the gel-like nucleus pulposus) pushes through the tough outer layer (the annulus fibrosus). This can lead to compression or irritation of nearby spinal nerves, causing pain, numbness, or weakness. . 👉🏼 Lumbar vs. Cervical Region: Disc herniations are more common in the lumbar (lower back) and cervical (neck) regions of the spine. The lumbar region bears a significant amount of weight and is more prone to wear and tear, making herniations more likely in this area. . 👉🏼 Spinal Flexion: Prolonged or repetitive bending and flexion of the spine, such as in jobs or activities that involve heavy lifting or improper lifting techniques, can increase the risk of disc herniation. . 👉🏼 Age: As people age, the discs in their spine naturally degenerate and become more susceptible to herniation. The discs lose water content and elasticity, making them less able to withstand pressure. . 👉🏼 Obesity: Excess body weight can increase the load on the spine, particularly the lumbar region, increasing the risk of disc herniation. . 👉🏼 Poor Posture: Maintaining poor posture over time can contribute to uneven stress on spinal discs, potentially leading to herniation. . 👉🏼 Trauma: Acute injuries, such as a car accident or a fall, can cause sudden and severe disc herniations regardless of spinal position. . ✅ It’s important to note that the likelihood of a disc herniation is influenced by a combination of these factors. Maintaining good posture, regular exercise, and practicing safe lifting techniques can help reduce the risk of disc herniation and promote overall spinal health. . #discherniation #slippeddisc #herniateddisc #spinehealth #lowbackpain #neckpain #pinchednerve #nervoussystemhealth #healthtips #vertebrae #lumbarspine #cervicalspine #neuropathy #osteopathy #osteopath #manualosteopathy #humananatomy #btosteopathy

The glenohumeral joint is held together by many muscles, tendons, and ligaments. The joint capsule seen here also helps hold things in place since this region is quite unstable. The biceps brachii has two heads, both originating on different parts of the scapula. The long head attaches to the supraglenoid process of the scapula, while the short head attaches to the coronoid process of the scapula. This means the biceps play a minor role in arm flexion, addiction, and shoulder stabilization. #experience #anatomy #experienceanatomy #humananatomy #anatomylab #anatomyeducation #dissection #dissectionlab #cadaverlab #anatomicalvariation #learning #education #medicine #medicalstudent #biceps #joint #connectivetissue #humerus #shoulder #flexion

💥Digestion💥 . The process of digestion begins in the mouth, where food is mechanically broken down by chewing and mixed with saliva containing digestive enzymes. . From there, the food travels down the esophagus and enters the stomach. . In the stomach, the food is further broken down by stomach acid and digestive enzymes, forming a semi-liquid mixture called chyme. . The chyme then moves into the small intestine, where the majority of digestion and nutrient absorption occurs. . The small intestine is lined with millions of tiny finger-like projections called villi, which increase the surface area for nutrient absorption. . Enzymes produced by the pancreas and bile from the liver and gallbladder aid in breaking down carbohydrates, proteins, and fats into smaller molecules that can be absorbed by the villi. . The nutrients, once absorbed, are transported through the bloodstream to various tissues and organs in the body, providing the necessary energy and building blocks for cellular function, growth, and repair. . The undigested waste material moves into the large intestine, where water and electrolytes are absorbed, and the remaining waste is formed into stool for elimination. . Digestion is influenced by many systems in the human body. Dysfunction in one system (nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, skeletal, muscular, lymphatic, urogenital) will negatively affect the digestive system. . Osteopathic treatment can help improve digestion through restoring balance, improving circulation, & influencing nervous system regulation. . #digestion #digestionsupport #digestionhealth #digestiontips #humananatomy #btosteopathy #osteopathy #osteopath #nervoussystem #nervoussystemregulation #vagusnerve #vagusnervestimulation #chronsdisease #inflammation #leakygut

💥Ligaments of the ankle & foot. . Ligaments provide stability and support to joints by limiting excessive movement & ensuring proper alignment of bones during various movements. . The main ligaments of the ankle and foot include the following: . 👉🏼Anterior Talofibular Ligament (ATFL): This ligament stabilizes the front of the ankle joint and prevents excessive forward movement of the talus bone. . 👉🏼Calcaneofibular Ligament (CFL): It provides lateral stability to the ankle joint, restricting excessive inversion or rolling of the foot. . 👉🏼Posterior Talofibular Ligament (PTFL): This ligament helps prevent backward movement of the talus bone in the ankle joint. . 👉🏼Deltoid Ligament: The medial side of the ankle is stabilized by the deltoid ligament. It prevents excessive eversion of the foot and helps maintain stability during weight-bearing activities. . 👉🏼Plantar Fascia: This thick ligament-like structure runs along the bottom of the foot, supporting the arch and absorbing shock during walking and running. . #anatomy #humananatomy #footligaments #ankleligaments #anklesprain #anklerehab #anklemobility #osteopathy #physiotherapy #chiropractor #btosteopathy #plantarfasciitis #plantarfascia #achillestendon
