HOW TO QUIT SMOKING 101 🚭 This post is inspired by real stories of real people I’ve been treating this week 🏥 One lady a recently retired nurse, 67 years old. 40 years she grafted for the NHS. Now her smoking habit has her bedbound, hooked up to ventilation at night & gasping for air just to touch her toes 😰 Fresh air is beautiful and sadly she, like many other elderly smokers, will never see views like these again 🌁🌴 Don’t give your life away to smoking 🙏 There’s probably no process in the world that’s more challenging than quitting 👇 HERE ARE THE SIX STEPS THAT ACTUALLY WORK ⛽️ Try them and see results. 1. SET A QUIT DATE 🗓️ Choose a specific day to quit smoking. Usually the first day of the month. Try to stick to it or find an accountability partner 2. KNOW YOUR TRIGGERS 🎯 Every smoker has a reason why they smoke. Think about the emotions, situations or people that make you want to smoke and avoid them or find a healthier way to cope. Chew sunflower seeds, stroll, exercise. 🚶♂️ 3. SEEK SUPPORT 👨👩👧 Many people often try to quit in silence. This will not work. Addiction to nicotine is serious and finding supporting family and friends to keep you on track is super beneficial. 4. USE NICOTINE REPLACEMENT 🫡 It’s possible that you will still be craving nicotine, although physically it’s out of your system in 72 hours. Have a stock of gum, patches, inhalers handy for the cravings. Be careful not to rely on them too much ✅ 5. REPLACE SMOKING WITH HEALTHY HABITS 🚴 This is one of the best ways to make progress. Exercising is the best option, particularly cardio. Your urge to smoke after running, cycling or swimming will be significantly less. 6. REMEMBER ITS A GRADUAL PROCESS Quitting from 20 cigarettes a day to 5 is still a big achievement. Getting off the cigarettes and onto nicotine replacement is even better. Spending time on top of mountains 🏔️ playing with your grandchildren is best. Choose your hard.
