Here's the recipe for my lemon poppy seed cake! 🍋✨ #baking #cake #foodtok #foodie #bake Ingredients 🍋 For the cake: 150g sugar 180g unsalted butter, softened 4 eggs 200g heavy cream Zest of 2 lemons 340g all-purpose flour 8g baking powder 30g poppy seeds For the syrup: 40g sugar 40g lemon juice 40g hot water For the glaze: 120g powdered sugar Lemon juice Instructions 📃 1/ Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a cake pan. 2/ In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy. 3/ Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined. 4/ Stir in the heavy cream and lemon zest. 5/ Add the flour, baking powder, and poppy seeds. 6/ Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well combined. 7/ Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. 8/ While the cake is baking, make the syrup by mixing together the sugar, lemon juice, and hot water until the sugar has dissolved. 9/ Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. 10/ Use a skewer or toothpick to poke holes all over the surface of the cake, then brush the syrup over the cake, allowing it to soak in. 11/ Let the cake cool completely before adding the glaze. 12/ To make the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar and lemon juice until the desired consistency is reached. 13/ Pour the glaze over the cooled cake and serve.
