A single bottle of Jack Daniel’s takes roughly 4 years to make. Follow me through the entire process here! We start in the fermentation room where there are large vats full of yeast, corn, rye, and barley. The yeast will eat the sugars in the grains and make ethanol and carbon dioxide gas. Next up, the mash goes through a still where the alcohol is evaporated and then cooled into 140 proof CLEAR WHISKEY. Essentially this is moonshine. From there, every drop is filtered (they call it mellowing) through 10 feet of charcoal. It looks like the world’s tallest Brita filter. After filtration, the whiskey is stored in handcrafted barrels for several years. As the seasons change, the alcohol makes its way deep into the wood in the heat and is squeezed back out in the cold. This process gives Jack Daniel’s its distinct appearance and taste. The entire process takes roughly 4 years BUT taste is the determining factor. You just can’t rush some things. #jackdaniel #jackdaniels #jackandcoke #bourbon #whiskey #whiskeylover #tnwhiskey #drchris #whiskeycocktail #moonshine
