Going organic… Is it worth it? 🌱 Absolutely not🫢 This one’s gonna make some people mad… But it’s the truth There’s this thing called “The Health Halo Effect” This is when people tend to overestimate the “health” of an item based on a single claim, such as being low in calories or low in fat, organic, natural, etc. But this belief usually comes from marketing, and not the food itself Marketer’s know that when you poll people, the vast majority just belive that organic food is healthier, safer, and better for the environment (without really knowing why) But every single one of these statements is just blatantly false. 1st: There is no meaningful difference between the nutritional content of organic compared to non-organic foods And yes, this has been tested, over, and over, and over (and over), again (studies linked below) 2nd: Over 100 fertilizers/pesticides/insecticides are approved and used on organic crops - both natural AND synthetic And “natural” ≠ better either And a lot of the time, the “natural” pesticides aren’t as effective, so a LOT more has to be used to get the same job done 3rd: Organic farming isn’t better, and is often actually worse for the environment The main factors are that it’s less efficient, and takes up to 40% more land Organic food isn’t safer, better for the environment, or better for you than non-organic foods. 01:28How do you “fix” skinny-fat? “Skinny-fat” is confusing Because the more weight you try and lose… The worse the problem seems to get?
