🎄 Holiday Party 2024: The First Annual “Self-Employed Edition” 🎄 This year marks my first holiday season without a corporate holiday party. After being unexpectedly laid off last month at the age of 61.5, there was no sparkly invitation to a grand event, no awkward small talk with coworkers, and no question of whether to bring a Secret Santa gift or just wing it. Instead, I decided to do something even better: celebrate with my family and the employees of my budding social media empire. Meet my dedicated team: • Piper: Senior Statesman and VP of Snacks (always demands royal treatment and reminds me daily who’s really in charge). • Bentley: Head of Security and Emotional Support (keeps everyone in line but still pouts when he doesn’t get extra treats). • Turtle: New Hire and Resident Mascot (quiet, hardworking, and a big fan of slow and steady wins the race). Tonight, we celebrated our financial independence, gave thanks for our blessings, and toasted to a 2025 filled with aspiration and action. And while this chapter of my life wasn’t in the five-year plan, it’s quickly proving to be the most fulfilling.
