Show some love to our c-section mamas! ❤️ C-section has its own set of challenges including scar healing, breastfeeding with an extremely sensitive wound, taking post-op meds while trying to breastfeed, not to mention how difficult it can be to digest the emotions a c-section can bring up in postpartum life. In a 2016 case study research showed that : ”Almost 40% of women who had an emergency c-section were unable to successfully breastfeed their baby on the first attempt compared to approximately 25% of women who either delivered vaginally or by planned c-section” If you’re a mama who is currently struggling to find success with breastfeeding after having a c-section, here are a few tips to help you and your newborn learn together. ✨ Practice LOTS of skin-to-skin time. ✨Try to hand express in the first 72 hours ✨ At-breast supplementers (like an SNS) can be very helpful to encourage milk production and help baby practice latching. ✨ Try out different breastfeeding positions, there is not a one position fits all. What works for one mama might not work for another. ✨ If you’re pumping, use a high quality breast pump, do gentle hand compressions while pumping, and ensure you have the correct flange size! ➡️ Ask us about our FREE flange ruler ✨ Reach out to a board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) for 1:1 support — we can help you find local breastfeeding support! In honor of C-section Awareness Month, show some love and support to our c-section mamas. ❤️ #csectionmama #csection #csectionbirth #legendairymilk #csectionrecovery #csectionawarenessmonth #fyp #babytok
