You know what’s truly daunting when going to haunted locations? it’s not the fear of encountering ghosts, but rather the unsettling absence of diversity and inclusivity within the realms of paranormal content in television and social media. As a Latina, and a brown Latina at that, I’ve noticed a concerning lack of representation and inclusion in these spaces. I’ve seen countless groups claiming to promote inclusivity, yet they’re comprised solely of white women or all-white men. This lack of diversity is a glaring issue that we must address. I’ve reached out to some of these groups, expressing my interest in joining them, only to not ever be included. That’s fine. But still include diversity In your groups. Also just because you include ONE BIPOC does not mean you did the work to be diverse and inclusive We must challenge ourselves to broaden our circles and uplift marginalized voices. As content creators, regardless of our background. Especially themes that regard history and culture remember folks ghost stories are history and we need to be mindful of why we do this content and uplift marginalized voices that are often over shadowed. If we truly seek to make a difference in this space #paranormal #contentcreator #thingstodo #hauntedlocations #diversity #inclusivity #culture
