UPDATE: The incident at the Winston-Salem bus station on March 14, 2024, where we were asked to leave due to not showing an ID or proof of certification for my service dog, led to a significant chain of events. Despite the initial refusal of service and asked to vacate the premises, I returned the next day with documentation that proved the request for proof was against the bus station's policies, especially when it comes to accommodating individuals with disabilities. Upon my return, the general manager of the Winston-Salem transit authority contacted me to apologize and clarify that requesting proof was not standard procedure and against their policy and the ADA. They also requested my participation in future sensitivity training sessions. It was revealed that the security guard responsible for the incident had only been on the job for three weeks and acted wrongly by requesting proof without proper authority. The police officer present on the premises was relocated as they had the ability to override the security guard's decision and other reasons that are unknown. The guard will be reprimanded, educated and his future at the bus station remains uncertain since he was acquired from a third-party agency that provides staff in the field of security. The security guard was not an employee of the transit authority company. I was actually contacted by a layer who specializes in disability cases like mine as the Lawyer is disabled themselves and has their own service dog. He did say I had a strong case and even offered to take on my case pro-bono depending on the outcome I wanted from this civil suit. During our discussion, I mentioned that my ultimate goal was to educate and create more awareness and training in the areas of people with disabilities and their service dogs. As our conversation progressed, they mentioned that was precisely the answer and reason they were looking for because many individuals that are disabled approach them who are either out to make a distasteful example of the accused or are just looking for a payday. While we both came to a mutual decision not to pursue the matter in court because of the isolated nature of the incident, they were thrilled that my intentions of creating awareness and a better environment for the disabled community and their service dogs was my ultimate goal. And with that they were interested in remaining in touch with me if any opportunities came up in the future on their end where we could collaborate, including offering out their services to provide sensitivity training for them. The city and the bus station administration made it clear that the guard's actions were against their policy, protocols and training. My decision not to escalate the situation legally was influenced by the desire to maintain positive relations with the community and the acknowledgment that pursuing legal action might not have benefited the disabled community in the long run. The guard's wrongful actions were recognized, and steps were taken to rectify the situation and prevent similar incidents in the future. #canecorso #canecorsoitaliano #servicedog #servicedogintraining #servicedogsoftikok #canecorsoservicedogintraining #servicesogprospect #servicedogteam #mastiffsoftiktok #dogtraining #puppytraining101 #puppytraining #dogtraining #trainingdog #trainingyourdog #TipsDogTraining #pupcessoriescrafts #publicaccesssucces #publicaccesstesting #servicedogtraining #ICCF #kodathecorso #kodathecorsotraining #kodathecorsotrainingandgear #kodacorso #kotathecorso #dakotathecorso #trends #trend #haveyoutrainedyourservicedogtoday #trainyourservicedog #dogtrainer #NCDogtrainer #NorthCarolinaDogTrainer #Virtualdogtrainer #Virtualdogtraining #balanceddogtrainer
