We need to talk about what is and is not an appropriate, porportional response a dog may give to any percieved provocation. Stable, healthy dogs who want a behavior to stop will cycle through several behaviors (whale eye, lip licking, moving away, growling, etc) before ever trying to give a warning nip to an individual (person, dog, or other) that is bothering them A stable, healthy dog will not chase after an individual bothering them once the behavior stops/is corrected. Chasing after and attempting to maul a child to death is not an appropriate response to anything that child could have been doing. Holding a child by the neck and attempting to kill them is NOT OK. Irregardless of what the child MAY have been doing. If you blame that little girl for being attacked in this situation, shame on you. WeRateDogs video: @weratedogs (for context) There is something sketchy about a guide dog program using one sire to produce over 320 puppies within ~7 years I understand that service dog programs may have a different set of ethics than what im used to, but its still off, especially when the majority of those puppies (294/323) went on to produce litters of their own. These are puppy mill numbers, no matter how i look at it. Puppy mills with purpose are still mills.
