Replying to @Victoria Francis I gotchu. The Exercise Every Drummer Should Know - One Minute Drum Lesson (68 BPM) This exercise is insanely valuable and changed my playing more than any other I’ve come across. It’s great for developing time, feel, balance, and independence behind the kit. It can be taken to advanced levels by incorporating 4 limb independence and various accent patterns to further expand the benefits. It starts with simple straight 8th notes on the hi hats. You then add the backbeat and the ghost note pattern on the snare drum which is notated above. This never changes. The kick drum will start on the downbeat of each beat and, using a 16th note subdivision, shift forward by one 16th note every 2 measures. Do this until you’ve cycled through all four 16ths on each beat. After that you’ll increase the difficulty by playing groups of 2 bass drums using the same concept of shifting forward by one 16th every 2 bars. This allows you to practice and internalize almost every common kick and snare pattern in one exercise. I first found out about this from a private teacher named Tim McIntyre over 10 years ago and have since discovered it was in a Benny Greb instructional course some time after. I dont know the origins but would love to find out. #drums #drummer #drumlesson #musiclesson #learnontiktok #learnwithtiktok #howto #drumming #drumbeat #drumvideo
