Replying to @Texastic 🪳 Protecting and saving endangered species that depend on the Sacramento San Joaquin delta means protecting habiats that endangered chinook salmon depend on. And it means protecting cities and towns from erosion and flooding during winter storms. But the delta ecosystem is im crisis. While plants like the endangered hibiscus go extinct in the wild. Today we are going to show you how easy it is to stop the extinction of one of my favorite California native wildflowers, if people just tried. California native plants have evolved with fire for millions of years , and they depend on wildfires to thrive. Before smokey the bear and colonization the California hibiscus was commonly found all along the delta. But thanks to agriculture and Southern California the delta is being drained just like Tulare lake. Guerrilla gardening this wildflower is easy, even without wildfire. Liquid smoke is made from the smoke of wood burning. It contains all the natural smoke chemicals that wildfires have. Mixing a few drops of liquid smoke with hot water and some endangering hibiscus seeds, will trigger the wildflower seeds to germinate. Guerrilla garden these seeds and you will be helping a beautiful endangered wildflower that is endemic to only California. Saving a endangered species is easy when people actually try. No delta tunnels. Water is life.
