Hey Valentine, our hearts only ✨beet✨ for you…. and treats. Mainly treats, but you’re pretty great too😉 #pethonestypartner Bonus: the ingredients in this recipe can help to support a healthy skin and coat! Easy Valentine’s Day Dog Treat Recipe: Ingredients: 💗 1 cup oat flour 💗 1/4 cup beet purée (NOT beet juice) 💗 1 tablespoon @Pet Honesty Omega-3 oil (Quantities seen in video clips are approximate due to Weller and Annie’s rigorous quality control protocol😉) Instructions: 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the oat flour, beet purée*, and omega oil 3. Combine until dough forms. If needed, add a bit more oat flour if the dough is too sticky. If it’s too dry add additional beet purée (or water) one tsp at a time 4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to ~1/4 inch thickness. Use fun cookie cutters to cut out treats 5. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the treats are firm and slightly golden 6. Allow the treats to cool before serving them to your furry valentine 😋 *Instructions for beet purée: wash, peel, and chop raw beets into smaller chunks. Boil until fork tender, then put in a blender or food processor until it reaches the consistency you want. You can add water if it’s too thick. Skin & Coat Benefits: 💗 Oat Flour: Oat flour is made by simply grinding oats into a fine powder— resulting in a nutritionally dense, gluten-free flour. It can be considered a hypoallergenic grain, meaning it is less likely to cause allergic reactions in dogs compared to other grains. This makes it a good choice for dogs prone to allergies. Additionally, oats are a natural source of biotin— a water soluble B vitamin that supports healthy skin and coat. 💗Fresh Beets: Beets are rich in antioxidant content and provide essential vitamins and nutrients that contribute to overall skin and coat health 💗 Pet Honesty Omega-3 Fish Oil: Sourced from anchovies, herring, mackerel and sardines from Iceland, it’s full of a specific type of Omega-3, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which helps support healthy skin and a glossy coat DISCLAIMER: Beets contain oxalates, which, in large quantities, can contribute to the formation of kidney stones in some dogs. If your dog has a history of kidney issues and/or is prone to kidney or bladder stone formation, it may be best to avoid feeding beets. For dogs without a past history of kidney and bladder issues, the amount of beet in these individual dog treats would not be considered a large quantity. As always, I am not a veterinarian or canine nutritionist. While all of these ingredients are generally considered safe for dogs, it’s always best to consult your vet before introducing new things to your dog, especially if you have a dog with specific dietary restrictions or health concerns. This recipe is meant to be a fun treat and activity to enjoy with your dog in moderation; it is NOT meant to be a complete and balanced meal.
