Just imagine what the Orcas thought… This past October, two male Orcas, 42 and 16, found themselves stuck in a tidal lake in Alaska for 6 weeks. After the residents of Coffman Cove realized the two Orcas plight, they alerted the authorities who later sent, Jared Towers of Bay Cetology, David Bain from Orca Conservancy and a few others to make their way to Alaska to help these two Orcas. IN FACT - Another group of Orcas got caught in this same lake some 30 years ago. David Bain was a part of that rescue as well where the group attempted to guide the surviving of the 8 Offshore Killer Whales back out to sea. To lure the Transients this past October, they played the sounds of Orcas in these two’s family to draw them through the narrow passages that lead back to the ocean. These are mammal eating Orcas so they were fed throughout as this tidal lake was home to many pinnipeds (seals, sea lions etc), and the younger one has been observed since. 2023 Recap: Orcas in Barnes Late There will be one repost of my favorite videos every day till the new year and a wrap up video on Youtube featuring almost all of my videos this year in 3 parts with the first OUT NOW and the second releasing soon (my laptops been funky but I’m working on it) #Orca #KillerWhale #orcas #killerwhales
