Remember Ben? He was abandoned in a veterinary clinic when his owners dropped him off for an operation and never came back. But he fell on his paws when Jennifer, a Registered Veterinary Nurse, fell in love with him and took him home. Since they have been living their best lives together! But recently those paws (well more his knees!) have been giving him a bit of trouble! Jennifer, noticed that Ben was starting to slow down, getting a bit stiff and he also had a couple of episodes of lameness. He was diagnosed as being in the early stages of arthritis and Jennifer and I started him off on a care plan that included pain relief, weight loss, exercises to ease his muscles and also joint supplements to support his joint health. Initially he did really well but then things got quite a bit worse because he ruptured a ligament in his knee. Cruciate Ligament Rupture unfortunately often goes hand in hand with arthritis. The symptoms of a cruciate rupture are a bad limp on a back leg that suddenly appears, and when you visit your vet, they often find that the knee joint is far more mobile than it should be. So Ben had to go under the knife with our brilliant surgeon! An operation is generally the best way to heal a ruptured cruciate ligament. He had his knee repaired and since has been on the road to recovery, with Jennifer never leaving his side. And he is doing brilliantly! We have continued with his diet plan, pain relief and joint supplements to support his other healthy joints, because now his knee has to heal, the rest of his legs will be picking up the slack! He also has a brilliant squad behind him that includes Sarah the physio and Beth the hydrotherapist who both see him regularly, me as his vet and, of course, Jennifer! He is well on his way to being back to full strength! #purina #purinasupplements #caninearthritis #cruciatedisease #ad #brandambassador #catthevet
