I think the main reason I did not go into wildlife illustration from the start and went into wildlife photography is because how much I was told it doesn’t happen for people. Trust me it is hard and the years I spent at university and after living off no money I think has helped me deal with the lows of some months but I feel like you just have to keep going. I can’t believe it has been two years maybe even more since I joined @BlazeBristol , the Bristol art co-op. If you didn’t know a co-op is basically ran by the artist. There were 10 of us who had major sections of the shop with our work and then work shifts for free. It has been awesome to display all my products in one place and curate it myself but it is time to leave. I need to focus my time on my commissions and where I make more money, which means I don’t have time to work shifts. It is bitter sweet to set up my last british wildlife window display and its not my best but life is crazy! You have another month if you want to browse before I leave but you will still find a few pieces of mine in there and any of my other stockists including just up the road from here at @Sprouts of Bristol. Each year I illustrate a new calendar design and last years was a collection of events in british wildlifes calendar year. This piece is of the mating display of adders or the ‘adder dance’ where they coil around each other. I still have some of these calendars left over so are on sale on my website.
