I am beyond frustrated. I have been doing markets for 2.5 years now and have never had this problem until now. I have been turned away from events because they already had another macrame artist at the event and I totally understand that. Because when you have more than one of the same style crafter or products, it becomes competitive and that’s just not really fair to either vendor. So for this specific market, if they already had someone else who signed up before me doing macrame, I feel like I should have been notified like “Hey, you are more than welcome to do the market, but we wanted to let you know we do have another vendor who is selling handmade macrame items as well” or something like that. Just make us both aware and let us decide if we still want to do the event. And if we both decide we want to, space out our booths. Never put us DIRECTLY across from each other. I even heard customers say “oh I thought this was all one booth” because we had similar products. So, what would you guys have done if you were me and walked in the first morning and saw that? Would you wait for the event to be over and say something to the people who out on the event? Would you have said something before the event started? Or maybe even just not come back to this event next year? I’ve never dealt with this before now so I am super frustrated and totally out of my element when it comes to confrontation lol #advicewanted #craftmarkets #vendorevents #smallbusinessadvice #macrameartist
