It’s spoooky season which means spooky fruits! I had to bring back one of my all time favorite fruits- snake fruit also known as salak. As you can see the outer shell resembles snakeskin. The inside looks like garlic cloves. When fresh the fruit inside is crunchy and slightly astringent but for what I was planning on making today I chose to purchase it frozen. The flavor is just like juicy fruit gum. If you’ve never had juicy fruit I’d compare it to a sour jackfruit. I had this idea to make a snake shaped ice cube with the snakefruit juice but with some Harry Potter vibes by adding little gold flake details on the scales. This was my first time trying this with a silicone mold and I’m really happy with how it turned out! For the rest of the juice I made a triple charged snakefruit soda. This would be good with alcohol too but for me personally I don’t like to drink so I kept it a mocktail. I love making sodas with my whipped cream canister using CO2 it’s really fun for me to do 😂🙈 This time I left the soda in the fridge for an hour and it helped keep the fizz better than other batches I have made. I topped the juice with sotol syrup, red dragon fruit juice, and edible flowers. I will call this one the snake pit 🐍 #snakefruit #salak #exoticfruit
