Garden Zones 8-11 - Time to sow seeds for things in the allium family like onions, leeks, and shallots. It takes a while for these to grow to transplant size. My goal is to transplant them in early October. Start seeds now! I like to sprinkle seeds in 4 inch pots of in a 10x20 tray to grow them out. Once they are around 6 inches tall, I start separating each little plant. You can grow hundreds of onions from just a packet of seeds.
