Amazon announced its "fastest Prime speeds ever" last quarter, delivering over 1.8 billion units to U.S. Prime members this year, a fourfold increase compared to 2019. In the 60 largest U.S. metro areas, over half of Prime orders arrived the same or next day. Amazon's same-day delivery, available across 90 U.S. metro areas, is planned to be expanded, with the average time from picking to outbound dock being 11 minutes. The company's CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores, Doug Herrington, noted regionalizing the network reduced costs, travel distances, and improved efficiency.
