A year ago i had to miss out on going to one of my favorite places because I was post surgery with complications in the hospital. I was devastated at the time. A year ago was some of the scariest moments with my health. It was when i got my first central line and I neary lost my life to malnutrition. A year ago I would have never thought I would be still dependent on my central line but it has definitely been what has kept me going. I know the music makes this look fun, but I promise you its not, haha. Any way, this was back when I had NG tubes. I was trained on how to replace them when needed. A lot of people ask me if placing them is painful. For me it is a bit painful but more just overall uncomfortable. Somtimes my environment brings some really hard memories like flash backs. While other time it brings on a feeling of déjà vu. Medical PTSD can be hard to navigate in times where these flashbacks are distressing. I know im far from the only one who experiences medical PTSD. People who go through chronic illness can develop PTSD through there tough experiences. This can include but is not limited to not having trust or control of your body, being invalidated by your care team and loved ones, watching you chronically ill friends struggle and somtimes pass away, having to greive what you once could do or never had the chance to do, and much more.
