This young patient had complaints of breast pain that prevented her from sleeping properly. She felt like her implants are causing her headaches and back pain. She had these set of La Femme branded silicone implants placed in Venezuela in 2011. I performed an explant with total intact (or “en bloc”) capsulectomy and breast lift. This patient had silicone implants made of industrial grade silicone!! She came all the way from Virginia for an explant surgery she had a lot of breast pain and had an MRI that showed one side was ruptured. Her implants were PIP implants that were replaced in Colombia. She interestingly had elevated liver enzymes and autoimmune disease. PIP implants used industrial grade silicone instead of medical grade silicone.
