It's a voice you may know. The voice that says it's too late. That it's your fault. That you've missed it. That your life is defined by what you could have been, rather than what you are. This is a bad story. Life is much more multi-faceted than that. Sure, with some physical and mental attributes, if you want to be "the best" it is probably optimal to start at a certain age. But being the best doesn't feel good in itself, it's in the context of the story we tell ourselves. We make "being the best" mean something - usually that it would eradicate whatever fears we have about ourselves, and justify our existence. It probably won't. Because you can only be the best for so long. And then you'll be right back here. Better to get comfortable, enjoy the process, and live for more things than just how good you can be in a very narrow sense
