With a PhD in urban engineering, Edith believed that if only she had graduated from an American university, her colleagues would value her ideas… Crazy thing is, Edith is the only one on her team with a PhD and a specialty specific to the projects her and her team are working on. 🤯 This belief, and a few others, were affecting the way she communicated with her team and superiors, resulting in: - lack of recognition - lack of leadership - lack of credibility - lack of authority So much so that her boss expressed his disappointment and surprise: she had been hired on her merit, her experience, her expertise… yet she was failing to lead her team of 7. Edith enrolled in leadership and communication training but they didn’t address her core beliefs. So when the pressure was on, she revert back to her former way of communicating. Until we worked together. Communication, shifting other people’s perception, influencing outcomes, leading others… It starts with you. If you want to be heard, to be valued, to be recognized, it starts with what you believe to be true about you. P.S. Edith has now be promoted to Executive Director of Planning and leads a team of 50. 👏🏼 #leadership #confidence #communication #learnontiktok
