If you’re already on a path to get fit, keep going, great job. I see a lot of “do this exercise over 40”, or “avoid this over 40” which is always confusing to me too. Over 40 is nothing. It’s not old and I’d even say the best is yet to come!! I saw a post recently about how if you’re over 40, you should never do a 1RM. Thats just so not the case. Thats just one example. I get where it comes from, but that’s just an opinion. I agree the wear and tear is real as the years go on, but with amazing nutrition, supplementation, smart training and good coaching, you can turn things around. If you’re not sure where to start because you’re inundated with confusing information, start by reading this. You need to get on some kind of resistance training program. I have a pretty big range of fitness levels who do my workouts, so dont be intimidated. Personally I do a combo of crossfit and some body building style training for additional strength as well as mobility. It meets all my needs, has me constantly engaged, encourages community which I need, and provides me with endless opportunity to improve athleticism. I also like to get coached and have something just for me. I did it for years and returned about a year ago. Not looking back!! Do what works for you. I’ve done all the workouts in my app and program them myself. They’re designed for you to start anywhere, but also you can progress as time goes on. Lift heavy weights, eat enough protein (I can help you with custom macros but shoot for about .8-1.2g per pound of body weight), get sleep, work on stress management, drink water, and stay consistent with the basics.
