Check out Penn Vet Working Dog Center K9 Andy learning the foundations to becoming a disaster search and rescue dog! • At just 12 weeks old, Andy already has a great understanding of the game - use my nose to find the person hiding, bark and get my toy! This search tested him with rubble he has never seen before and he navigated it like a champ! In the video, you see him confidently traverse over the rubble, the wind is blowing in his face so his nose is able to pick up odor of someone he can't see. Once he smells it, he works to locate where it is the strongest then barks to alert his handler. • If all goes well, in about 1 - 1.5 years Andy will be paired with a handler on a FEMA Task Force and be deployable to search natural disasters, collapsed buildings, and other disasters for missing and trapped people. #searchandrescue #k9 #puppy #pennvetworkingdogcenter #sar #usar #fema #lab
